Saint-Tropez tourism officials released graded ratings for five peninsula walking routes this week, sorting each by exact distance and difficulty from flat 2.8-kilometre waterfront paths to steep 14-kilometre hill loops.
The ratings arrive as July visitor numbers rise and local wellness groups expand outdoor sessions before the August heat peaks. Municipal data shows trail use climbed after the Office de Tourisme added new signposts in May 2025.
The Sentier du Littoral starts at the Vieux Port and runs 4.8 kilometres east along the water to Plage des Graniers. The path stays mostly level with two short stair sections and passes the small park at the end of Rue des Remparts. A second option begins at Place des Lices and follows Chemin des Moulins for 6.3 kilometres through shaded olive groves before returning via Boulevard Vasserot. Both routes carry an easy or moderate label on the new map.
The Saint-Tropez Randonnée association maintains the signposts and holds free group walks on the Sentier du Littoral every Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the port.
Two longer routes head inland. One climbs from the Citadelle parking area along Chemin de la Moutte for 9.2 kilometres with 280 metres of elevation gain, rated moderate to hard. The most demanding option loops past the old windmills above La Garonne neighbourhood for 14 kilometres and 450 metres of climb, marked hard and recommended only for experienced walkers.
The Office de Tourisme recorded 28,450 trail users between January and June 2026. Guided half-day outings on the longer hill routes cost 25 euros per person and include water and a printed map.
Walkers should stop at the tourism office on Rue de la Citadelle for updated weather notes and printed grade cards before heading out. Those new to the area can start with the 4.8-kilometre Sentier du Littoral and add distance each week as fitness improves.
